A.Rod UGC Challenge

The A.Rod UGC Challenge is a global video competition created to celebrate the real, brave, and authentic stories of barbers around the world. By sharing your personal journey, you contribute to building a community that’s as genuine and powerful as the work you do every day!

1. Eligibility Criteria

You may participate if:

  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • You are a licensed barber (if applicable in your country), or a practising barber.
  • You are located in one of the eligible markets: USA, Spain or the UK.
  • The content you submit is original, authentic and created exclusively for this competition.
  • You are not an employee, affiliate, partner or contractor of Booksy (unless you are a brand ambassador), nor of any of its affiliates, partners, or marketing agencies.
  • You are not an employee, affiliate, partner or associate of A.Rod.

2. How to Enter and Challenge Phases

Follow @arod23pr on Instagram and also follow the appropriate Booksy account based on your location:

The challenge consists of three (3) sequential phases, introduced by Booksy Ambassador A.Rod:

  • Wait for each phase to be announced on A.Rod’s social media.
  • Create a video based on the theme announced for that phase.
  • Post your video on Instagram with the hashtag #ARODBooksyChallenge and tag:
    • @booksybiz / @booksyspain / @booksyuk (based on your market)
    • @arod23pr
  • Deadlines per Phase:
    • Phase 1: 1 June – 21 June 2025
    • Phase 2: 29 June – 12 July 2025
    • Phase 3: 20 July – 1 August 2025

Not all participants will progress to subsequent phases. Please refer to Section 3 for details on the elimination process.

Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.

3. Winner Selection

The winner will be chosen by a judging panel including A.Rod and Booksy team members.

Each phase will be judged independently.

Evaluation criteria include:

  • Authenticity and emotional impact
  • Alignment with the phase’s theme
  • Creativity and entertainment value
  • Community resonance and engagement potential

Additional weight will be given to content performance based on metrics such as share rate, reach and speed of engagement.

Elimination Process:

  • Phase 1: The top 100 participants will be selected.
  • Phase 2: From those 100, 10 finalists will be chosen.
  • Phase 3: One winner will be selected from the top 10 finalists.

The winner will be announced on 11 August via the following Instagram accounts: @arod23pr, @booksybiz, @booksyspain and @booksyuk.

The jury's decision is final and not open to appeal.

4. What Is the Prize?

The winner will receive $5,000 USD in cash.

  • If you are based in the UK or Spain, the prize will be converted into GBP or EUR respectively, based on the XE.com exchange rate on the date of the official announcement.
  • The final amount may vary depending on exchange rate fluctuations; no extra compensation will be provided.
  • You are responsible for any applicable taxes or fees.
  • If you do not respond within 7 days of contact, an alternative winner may be selected.
  • The prize will be issued by bank transfer within 30 days of winner confirmation.

5. Content Ownership & Licensing

By submitting content to the Challenge:

  • You retain ownership of your video and materials.
  • You grant Booksy a free, non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual licence to:
    • Use, reproduce, share, adapt and publish your content.
    • Feature your content in digital campaigns, social media and promotional material.

You confirm that:

  • Your content is original and created by you.
  • You have the rights to all images, music, and individuals featured.
  • Your submission does not infringe on any third-party rights (e.g., copyright, likeness).

No commercial music, watermarks, logos or offensive content will be accepted.

Booksy will credit you as the creator where feasible (e.g., by tagging you on social media).

6. Privacy Notice

Who processes your data:

The three Booksy entities act as joint controllers for contest-related data processing.

Where we collect your data from:

Directly from you and your social media profile.

What we collect (and why):

  • Full name, email, Instagram handle, country, postal code, phone number, business name.
  • Confirmation that you’re a practising barber and a Booksy user.
  • Confirmation of age (18+) and acceptance of terms.
  • Optional marketing consent (for EU/UK participants).

Purpose of data processing:

  • To run the competition.
  • To publish content on Instagram.
  • To comply with legal obligations.
  • To send marketing communications.

Who can access your data:

  • Booksy staff.
  • Trusted service providers (e.g., hosting, marketing platforms).
  • Booksy affiliates.

We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

International transfers:

Your data may be transferred outside your country. For EU/UK participants, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) apply.

Data retention:

Your personal data will be kept for the duration of the competition and a reasonable period afterwards. Marketing data will be retained until you opt out or withdraw your consent.

Your privacy rights:

Depending on your country, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to how your data is used, and to file a complaint with a supervisory authority.

7. Disqualification

Booksy reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:

  • Contains offensive, illegal or inappropriate content.
  • Breaches the platform’s terms of service.
  • Is not original, includes plagiarised material or misrepresents the creator.
  • Violates these Terms & Conditions or the spirit of the challenge.

8. Governing Law

This competition is governed by the laws of the country in which your entry is submitted (USA, UK, or Spain). Any disputes will be resolved in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction.

9. General Terms

Booksy reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Challenge at any time without notice.

Instagram is not affiliated with or sponsoring this Challenge in any way.
